Health and Hygiene
Personal hygiene, nutrition, and safety are important parts of our daily routine.

Please clip your child’s nails regularly.
Attention to safety
From the moment your child arrives at Rabieh Nursery and until he/she is picked up at the end of the day, your child’s safety is our foremost concern.
Procedures for arrivals and departures have been developed to insure the safety and
well-being of everyone at Rabieh Nursery. Your cooperation in complying with these procedures is appreciated:
1-Children should be escorted by a parent (or person bringing the child to school) into the building or playroom and placed with a staff member before the parent leaves the premises. NEVER LEAVE YOUR CHILD OUTSIDE THE BUILDING AND ASK HIM/HER TO WALK INTO THE SCHOOL UNESCORTED.
2-Parents should sign forms such as medication directions, permission slips.
Pick up slips must also be completed by parents.
3-Attendance:
All children’s daily attendance is recorded by their teachers in the classroom.
4-Departure:
When picking up your child from playschool please make sure that a staff member acknowledges you taking him/her from the classroom or the playroom.
We strongly believe in the importance of security for you and your child. We ask you, the parents, to respect the procedures for drop-off and pick-up of the children.
Medical Information
Upon enrollment, each child is required under the” Day Nursery’s Act” to have an up-to-date immunizations record. Parents are given a medical form to be completed and returned to the daycare.
It is highly recommended to only give medications that have been prescribed by a physician. Any non-prescription medication to be administered at the Nursery, such as Panadol, Cough syrup,... must be accompanied by the parents signed permission and instruction for use.
Any prescribed medication to be administered by a staff member must have a label with the child’s name, physician’s name, medication, dosage, frequency, and starting date.
Please alert us to any possible side effects of the medication and if it is to be discontinued.
A monthly physical check-up with the daycare pediatrician is expected.
A medical note and growth chart (height/weight) will be sent to the parents.
Accident of injury
In case of an accident or injury we will make every attempt to reach you. If you are not reachable, the child’s emergency contact person will be called. Until the arrival of a parent, the nurse will take charge of your child. In your enrollment package there is a form authorizing Rabieh Nursery to act on your behalf.

Meals
Good eating habits and positive attitudes towards food should be established at an early age. For young children it is essential to have a nutritionally balanced diet for healthy growth and development. Menus have been designed to include items from each of the four basic food groups with fruits and vegetables. A variety of morning snacks and drinks are also given.
Meals are prepared on site, 2nd and 3rd portions are available for hungry little appetites. Menus are posted at the preschool entrance. Please advise a member of our staff in writing of any food allergies. A substitute item may be offered to your child. Children are not allowed to bring candy or sweet or chewing gums except for birthday celebrations or special occasions.
How birthdays are celebrated
The children’s birthdays are special and important occasions. You are welcome to bring in a treat for everyone in your child’s class, preferably something nutritious. Please notify your child’s teacher in advance so that we can plan time for the celebration.
Toys
It is in the interest of all children not to bring toys, sunglasses, or any other personal items as they may be lost or broken or may create problems between the children.
We cannot be held responsible for any lost or broken items brought to the school
Clothing
Please dress your child casually for freedom in creative play. It is also important to dress him/her in appropriate clothing for weather conditions (hats, coats for outdoor activities…).
Every child needs to always have a pair of socks and underwear to be kept in the daycare in case of soiling. All clothing items are to be labeled and put in a zip-lock bag. Replace them with fresh ones in case they get used.
Rabieh Nursery will provide outer-garments (tee- shirts, sweaters) you are asked to return them to the daycare as soon as possible.
A «Lost and Found Basket» will be located in the back entrance, feel free to look for missing items there. If your child comes home with an article not belonging to him/her please return it to your child’s teacher.
For toddlers, bring diapers and wipes when needed.
Children between the ages of one and four are required to take a period of rest and relaxation.
Rabieh Nursery’s uniform is mandatory
Holidays observed
We offer a special program to accommodate brothers & sisters during school holidays.
Rabieh Nursery is open to any comments or suggestions a parent might have. It is highly recommended that parents talk to the child’s teacher on a regular basis to share his/her experiences at home and at daycare.
A parent-teacher meeting will be scheduled once every two months. More details will be available as the date gets closer.
Any spare time or special talent a parent may have and would like to share with the children will be more than welcome. Parents are always encouraged to participate in their children’s experiences.
